MEGATHREAD Target myDevices

So today the scanner quit about three times total @OtherGuy . Once when the 'scanner down' position and then one other time had to do a reboot and then after a long period of no use like an hour and half or so. I used a PDA most of the day except to tie revisions.

I know it is frowned upon here to reveal any personal info so feel free to say no, but it'd be really helpful if you could private message me your store number we could pull the logs and take a look.

I am sending you, a pm. I had one device with .41 update & the scanner just quit. Reboot it 9 times hot & cold. Then, my lod had one too. But it had come back up after 5 times of rebooting it. We have the wifi upgrades, @OtherGuy.

Mine will still crap out when the battery is low. You have to close the app then repoen to reactivate the scanner. Not all the time though.

When Qmosing, the highest quantity you can put in is 50 on a MyDevice. PITA when I have to toss 400 bananas. Any possibility of fixing this? On the PDA's we could do 99.

Thanks to those who sent me their store numbers (mods please let me know if I crossed the line in any way), and no need to worry us over here in MyDevice have a lot better things to do than try to track people down for not tucking in their shirt or something silly so your store #'s are save with me. :)

I guess my first question is, why in the world are we throwing out 400 bananas? Maybe it's just that I watched Jon Oliver's Last Week Tonight food waste episode yesterday, but that seems like an insane amount of food to throw out. Now I've never worked with produce so maybe that's a completely normal amount to throw out, but it sounds like the real issue is too much is being ordered? Increasing the toss limit would only addresses the symptom and not the core issue.

Because my FDC struggles with keeping the temperature of the bananas above 55 degrees. When they are exposed below that, they turn grey, don't ripen right etc. Their "solution" is to always order 14 cases at a time, so boxes grouped together stay warmer. This has helped, but not 100%. Plus, it's a bit harder to manage the inventory when you have to order that many at a time. Had it pretty well figured out at my last store, just transferred to a different one, so I'm working on it. 400 ugly grey bananas had to go yesterday.

I can easily answer this for them. There was an e-mail that floated around about a power outage at a Super Target last week, lost over $100K in perishables.

Busy busy... Target Beacon services ready to be implemented... guests paging you for help on the Target.com App soon via Redwire on your MyDevices.

So THATS why I have two very close REDwire updates coming up next month. No one logs into REDwire at my store except another SrTL and myself. And then I'm on the only one to restart the app every hour to keep the alerts coming in.... Guests are going to be upset when we don't respond. Unless this updates fixes that crappy app...

.

It comes down to how the TMs feel on this.
We want folks to feel safe here and not worry about repercussions.
If they choose to let you know their store number, that is their choice.
They know you work for corporate and there is a risk.
It's up to them.

This has happened at my store before. It sucks to see all that food literally wasted.

Never seen a pFresh section empty before. It almost looks scary..

Slightly off the current topic: When they finally nerfed NOP yesterday, all the old farts didn't know what to do (Considering 80% of them simply refuse to call eHR for their password)

And I got to see the new myDevice hardware "upgrade". My first thought was that "I have one of those screwdrivers..."

No wonder why Spot doesn't trust us. :)

MyDevices are definitely getting better. Still have a few hiccups with the sled from time to time, but 90% of the time it works great.

Just wish it re-connected quicker when waking up. But I can dream, right?

EDIT: Actually, just remembered a funky issue I had. I was looking up a DVD for a guest (can't remember the name) and I could look through all the other categories just fine, trying to look through the Entertainment category just left me with an endlessly loading page.

Name of artist, then space & 012 for music.

One issue I have seen with the My Device that NOP on PDAs does fine is on items that are currently on an untied POG.

On a MyDevice if an item is on an upcoming POG or Salesplanner that is not pre-tied it is 90% likely to show no information under the POG item details section, resulting in it looking like the item is going NOP / discontinued.

However when scanning the same item on a PDA under NOP it will list an upcoming POG with the set date.

One easy way to test this that I was showing a trainee some of the MyDevice features and bugs:
go to an active aisle or endcap,
scan an item - yay it shows the detailed POG information (capacity, schematic, etc)
Break the POG's tie
scan the exact same item with MyDevice - detailed POG information is completely blank, no POG number, nothing at all, making the item look as if it is discontinued/NOP
scan the item with a PDA under NOP - all item information including set date, schematic info, POG number is available, so now you can easily tell that the item is part of a currently unset POG
Retie the POG
Scan with MyDevice - POG information now reappears under item info

This drives me crazy. We are going through a remodel right now. It sucks when we send stuff to backstock that we end up pulling two nights later because now it is on a planogram that we set. So much extra work.

That makes me cry. So much wasted

Had a really strange issue with one of the MyDevices today. It'd connect to sled, make its happy 'I've connected' noise, then make a very sad disconnected noise and disconnecting. It'd bounce back and forth several times before finally connecting and staying and connected. But whenever I woke it up again it'd do it all over again.

Unrelated to the power outage, but these overhead signs do not have any replacement parts. They were circa the 2008 prototype. So when a recent revision put tea in a different aisle than coffee, the Coffee/Tea insert had to remain above one aisle. Corporate brilliance.

We've had a few gone missing/stolen, be it by team members or guests idk. Between the locks and new security stickers we are hoping to crack down on it. Also word to the wise we can now remotely kill the iPods through Apple so even if they get stolen they won't work.

The next release will change this, the functionality of NOP has been duplicated on to the item details page so you will see all the POGs.

How quickly did this happen? Was it very rapid fire were the sounds were actually coming before the other sound finished, or was there some time in between them? I had only seen this on one of our earlier test versions, but we put filtering in to stop that (the sled will literally tell the iPod it is connected/disconnected about 20 times before it settles down, my only thought is maybe that one sled does it slower/longer than other sleds and we need to increase the filter)
