Can you apply for ETL positions outside of your store, if they are open? I did it for the heck of it, got threatened to be fired.

Its pretty rare to get an ETL position in the store you were in. Target logic is people are more likely to respect someone in a position then someone who was equal to them but is now promoted.

I cant believe your store did that, pretty sure they are not supposed to.

It's nothing bad, right? It's understandable if the DTL (i believe) contacts the STL, and he told me as well it WAS possible to go from TM-ETL but you have to be amazing.

I am saying your store threatening to fire you for pursuing an ETL position is ridiculous.

We had that happen in my old store. Sr tl was never sent for interviews so he applied to for an etl position in another district. When are STL found out she was furious and threaten to fire him. In the end the sr tl quit and got hired in the other district anyway

I think it's in the handbook and on the internal application process that it's mandatory that you notify your supervisor and HR about what your planning to do before applying for a position. You wouldn't get FIRED but they could deny you after they find out.

It was probably a position like district admin which is a cushy job but only pays as much as a TL.

It actually pays more then a TL but less then an ETL...
