Archived New Paygrades

All of this recent pay news just seems geared toward pushing out veteran workers, which is dumb when it just means they'll just end up paying more for untrained labor.

Store leaders are being told they need to put people in the right positions. At my store we moved a bunch of people back to flow.

Anyone in AA who can't sell was given the boot. @Doglover89 this may be your way out when it trickles down to your store.

I hate the pushing out of veteran workers but I hope they realized the chances of recruiting cosmetics, beauty and electronics experts was miniscule at minimum wage.

That makes sense, which is probably why my store hasn't been headed in this direction at all. In the past couple months E2E is basically over in my store, flow is back to waving freight except in the few usual areas, softlines keeps hiring 17 year olds who quit after a couple months, cosmetics TMs call out a ton (once, memorably, both on the same day) and have to be covered by flow and hardlines constantly. The most reliable and mature TMs we have are in flow, electronics, and market, so there will be a lot of big changes happening rapidly if all this is anywhere close to happening at my store. Otherwise they'll be paying big bucks for teenagers to throw shoes at each other.

So, for people already working in electronics, what can we expect with these changes? I know definitive answers are a stretch right now, but I'm just trying to get a general consensus on what may or may not happen.

Will somebody please tell me what AA stands for? Please and thank you.

They aren't using the term softlines anymore. My old store called our softlines etl - ETL Style.

My guess is you guys will be getting a slight raise. The only downside is you may not be able to pawn your shifts off to hardlines team members anymore.

Also new TPSs will probably get screwed on base pay. I'm sure we'all be specialist pay which is bullshit

You expect to get paid like a team lead?

I expect to get paid more than a beauty TM that's for sure

The only thing that slightly irritates me is a very few TMs get paid more than me because they were previous TLs but stepped down. I’m around $13 and they’re around $15. All of us are vets though (more than 9 years).

Yes, there’s a few of us who are actually more than 9 years still in our store. Double digits actually

Nope. The BRTL should be doing all that
"Should" is a very strong word. Our BRTL doesn't even know how to look up an order on Manhattan. That's not really a bad thing, just that the Flex Fulfillment department really should have an official person in charge of it. Keyword being official, meaning we should get paid more.

Is consumables going to be considered specialty? It's currently $1 over base at my store, so $11.

When will these pay grades go into effect? October 1st? And how much will it be? I've been officially in Beauty for like close to a month (and yes I kind of know somewhat about makeup, and been selling good apparently from what TL said)

October yes no word on amounts, maybe another HR or etl has heard something.

Maybe. But until then at least the plan my ETL and I came up with is to keep me "behind the scenes" doing truck push, POG, pricing, and backstocking, while keeping other tms more comfortable with selling/guest interaction "up front." And I'm OK with that. Ultimately I'm hoping to wind up doing SFS, instocks, heck even regular hardlines, until I can get out of Spot.

I haven't heard more than going from 8 to 4 paygrades. 2 are for tms, the other 2 for TLs. It is going to be interesting to see what gets the higher paygrade. Will Food Ave be lower, and Sbux higher like now? Will market tms be lower with one FA who is higher?

So we had an all store huddle today where the raises were "officially" announced for the first time. The STL said in no uncertain terms that nobody at all who currently makes above $11 will be getting a raise. Regardless of paygrade. Including TLs.

Not sure if the STL knows something more than what's been publicized, or if it's just being interpreted differently.

This is somewhat off topic, but I’m kinda nervous now because I have two hardlines shifts on next week’s schedule. I haven’t had a HL shift in over a year maybe. I’m usually pricing or SL/FR. Not saying that HL is hard or anything. It’s kind of a nice variety, but I do know someone in HL is leaving. So I’m guessing it’s because they need someone to fill the hours? But I’m not as sure now after reading this threat. I just don’t want to be fully away from my pricing and SL families lol
