I did my first interview with my ETL-GE/SF then 4 days later I had another interview but not real interview on paper with my ETL-HR. While i was in that interview he gave me the flip book test just to see if I could even do the merchandising part of the job I guess. Now almost a week later I'm doing my interview with my STL this coming Monday. Then after that IF i make it past her who knows when my interview with my DTL or HRBP will be....😕....My ETL-GE/SF is pushing hard for me to get it but I'm in school and he says that's the only hurdle that I'd have to find a way to cross.
I know they can take forever if they stagger them. I've stayed late to get them done on tl meeting Mondays. Just a matter of all the right people often not working the same days/times.

We have at least two softlines TMs who have been scheduled under the Visual Merchandiser workcenter on the latest schedule. No idea if we actually hired a VML.

If those TMs are brand specialists or whatever, I believe that's how they will be scheduled when they're supposed to be working on their area.

Our vml started, but she's training so no one is scheduled under VM yet.

Well you all were right they are wanting those with a "degree in visual merchandising" so just like the etls Target is seeking except these folks actually have to have a relevant degree not just a degree in underwater basketweaving like some of the etls I've seen.

I did not get the position. It did go to a recent graduate with a degree in visual merchandising. I'm ok with that, though very disappointed. I really wanted this.

Our new VM-TL is honestly a bitch thus far. She thinks everyone is moving too slow, and she is only walking around with our ETL-SF. She curls her lip at the thought of even touching a register or helping with filling GSA spots. When she was introduced to me, and told that I was her Cosmetics Brand TM, she just looked me over with a cocked eyebrow and seemed unimpressed. I'm sorry. Were you expecting someone dolled up and covered in glitz and glam? That's not this position, honey. It's all about being willing to get down and dirty with those shelves. Yes, me eyeliner is on point, but don't expect perfect waves and flawless outfits on a daily basis.

(Obviously I'm a bit bitter about this, especially as one of the past brand TMs who wanted this position was turned down because she didn't meet the education requirements. That woman is a motherfreaking beast who can work circles around anyone in the store. In my mind, she's still more important than this overly dyed, frizzed out, Amazonian woman we have coming in...)

TLs for the departments are responsible for salesplanners listed under salesfloor workload where the planogram handles all the planogram workload based on the adjacency calendar.
What's weird is, even though the sales planners are listed under salesfloor workload, it's clarified in a couple different documents that the PPTL is still responsible for getting them done. I know it's on myTime guidelines and best practices.

We had a Zone allotment of hours last summer for setting planners. Then one day it was suddenly sf hours again.

just out of curiousity how far in the interviews did you go? ETL/STL/DTL? Usualy the DTL will trust what the STL and ETL both want and do a formal interview. If the DTL says now its usually because the person didnt interview well or didnt have the support. My ETL and STL really wanted me for the position and the DTL was aware of what I have done at my store so I got it with no VM degree whatsoever, heck I even beat out candidates with VM degrees lol.

when you pull up the ADJ Calendar you will see the pogs and SPLs are split by a line, salesfloor TL's own everything under the line while pog owns the top, unless otherwise stated by other forces(STL feels like it).

It's stated by headquarters that even though they're under SF hours, SPLs are owned by the PPTL.

Sorry same case here. It sucks to lose out to a person mostly straight out of "fashion" college.

I just had my interview with my STL Monday. There's two other candidates but neither of them have any formal VM education. One girl they already know they're not hiring so it's only me and another. I'm waiting to know what my next step will be because I think my STL wants to hire the other girl but my ETL wants to hire me. It's kind of a power struggle right now and my ETL said he's trying to push for me to go in front of the DTL because he knows I'd beat out the other girl for the spot if we both went up in front of her.

Ok what is this degree...I have NEVER heard of this specific degree..this is an actual thing? I imagine its at a specialized school?

Should be interesting to see how it turns out if the VM-TL has to actually help set the displays.
All of a sudden those posh outfits and snappy makeup won't help much.

So, I know I haven't been a big fan of my TL, but I honestly think she's jaded and she covers a lot of those front lane breaks and she closes SL alone enough to be sick of it all. So, I think she could be good and I like her as a person enough to sympathize. Anyway... she applied for this job and didn't get it and now she has to train the new vml. She did not seem to enjoy that today and I felt so horrible for her. Something I hadn't put much thought to before... the vml is now responsible for the adjacencies that my TLs were responsible for. If they're taking responsibilities away from them... what does it all mean?

I can't wait to see the first time she tries to set my focal. She's going to be amazed at all of the messes down there.

The way it ws explained to me was that the VM-TL will be taking over everything appearance wise, so mannequins, focals, endcaps, etc. so that the other TLs can focus on shaping up their teams and spending more one on one time building them up. Now, we all know that's most likely not going to happen, so what this really is is a way for the other TLs to now be forced to do more of the mundane stuff like reshop and zoning.
