MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

There was a large box (4x4x4 roughly) on a pallet by itself that arrived last week--labeled for OTC and I believe goes in the pallet space in OTC (for those stores that have that space). It's a wellness salesplan with a pre-built shipper for stocking stuffer items.
It finally arrived, the Friday of the week it was supposed to be set. Our VM does a really good job at labeling those big boxes, so it was super easy for me to find it where she leaves all that stuff once it's sorted. But it'd be so great if the ISM didn't arrive at the last minute! Makes for a lot of extra work to fake-set (and have it look awful, but hey, the product is on the end cap!), then real-set it again.

Agreed! I believe HQ has figured out what is causing the ISM to arrive staggered like it has been. And it *might* be getting fixed??? Time will tell.

If I see one more oversized ISM pallet come into my store, I'm going to lose it!!!!! There has to be a better way to send all this ISM: maybe separate out the holiday stuff from the regular ISM instead of mixing it all together forcing someone to have to go thru the whole thing when we have no space to do so?!?!!

The holiday endcap toppers could have all been sent on their own pallet. Beauty ISM, same thing.

Smarter not harder, people!!

*end rant*
I had this same conversation to myself yesterday… it just keeps going. Also coming in late or early. We’ve been getting Christmas for almost a month now.

Send it all at once or just by week like normal. So many damn oversized boxes.

Any tips and tricks for backstocking wrapping paper. We have some of the wrapping paper length wacos but not a ton of space to set them up.

Haven't seen it yet, but in the past, we've put it on the lower shelves in the steel. Like where we often have some of the smaller furniture back stock. The furniture goes up higher for the season.
We put risers above all the Paper aisles, using that space for a lot of paper towel and toilet paper back stock that would ordinarily be in the back room, so that back room space is open for Christmas stock.

Random thought - Target should keep a back endcap of grilling stuff in Sporting Goods during the Christmas set. So many people ask where the charcoal is during November/December.

We used to carry charcoal year-round. In the winter months it was moved into one of the paper POGs. Can't remember which POG it made sense in though. 🤔 With paper plates & napkins? By Reynolds wrap items? Trash/leaf bags?

I used to have it in receiving steel , but I would use plastic pallets ( not FDC) 1 upside down next one flat next one upside down so forth and so on to keep them organized once they came out of the box since opu would open boxes and leave it anywhere

Don’t you have sea west pog 1&2 ? Normally they move on the pog with the fireballs which for my former target is sea west 1&2

We have seasonal east in storage but it's only heaters/shovels (it hasn't snowed here in 5 years) and ice melt. But all the grilling stuff went through the salvage process.

Agreed. Even if a cold state in the north, people grill outside during the winter. Plus some people like to give a set of grilling tools for holiday gifts. Sort of like giving a kid a bike for Christmas.

So my store which previously did the full early ODL set is getting Gameday instead with all of the furniture and rugs not setting until February.

Interesting, as of December 6th ISM ordering will be disabled until January 1st as target will be Changing to a new vendor (Integrated Merchandising Solutions IMS).

Wonder how that’s going to go… according to the weekly update, December 6th is the order cut off date and anything for Rear Seasonal Toys, Rear Seasonal Game Day, Valentine’s Day and lunar new year can be only ordered through MySupport as HQ will place the order

Maybe the new ISM vendor will be able to send things on time? Still waiting for the ISM for two Personal Care end caps that I set a couple weeks or so ago. Well, one of them has most of it, just missing the backer paper.
I'm probably being overly optimistic.

Has anybody have to deal with incompetent presentation leaders? I can't take it anymore. This TL since taking over a year ago rarely pre-ties his big transition sets, never prep his workload or strips, doesn't read transition guides, doesn't communicate with PML on gondola builds, doesn't know how to plan properly as far as demerching clearance. He plans everything the day of. It's driving me mad!

IMO, Presentation Lead should be a higher pay grade position than TL to encourage placing more talented leaders in the role. But then again I am biased since I'm a presentation lead. 😉
