My VMTL came over to me and told me to make one of my focals look pretty because it was almost empty and looked like shit. She wanted me to "use my best judgement and fix it" while she went and complained to the LOD about how lazy and useless our Softlines team is (yes, I heard you, bitch, and any inkling of faith I had in you is now gone).

I'm torn between thinking that her trusting me to design my end cap is a good thing and thinking that she just doesn't know how to set it best.

I'm choosing to believe it's a good thing.

But I agree that it'll be a huge learning curve to find out you've just been hired to be cashier most days.

At least most will be making more than everyone else in the store but the STL and the pharmacist.
Huh? Starting pay for college grads in ETL positions is 50,000+. The vmtl's won't start it at 50,000.

Hey unknown- Ionly cashiered 1 day- just the register training and that was it- everythin else I do revolves around training people-weather it br tls associates- even my etl has asked me advice on standards- and now- as i had said earlier- thet are having two other vmls" shadow "me and help mentor them- this in only being with the company for 2 weeks(30 years though of experience as a visual manager)

It is the VMLs job to backup cashier as well. If you've been In store for 2 weeks and haven't cashiered when we are backed up then congratulations on giving us another reason to hate this position. I made my VML go up today because I flat out wasn't going to go up after being up there for an hour. They can walk away from primping an end cap just as well as I can walk away from the mounds of tissue paper I scraped off a basedeck onto the floor to salvage today.

Thats one thing that will make or break my opinion of my VML. If she delegates more than she does herself she is useless. Today she did all the work herself. We will see..

Clearance master- they do not use me as cashier backup in the store- they made it clear that is not where they want me to focus- but im not beneath helping out in the store- for example- when my est asked if i could do 4 overnites in a row this week to help set xmas and c spot-I WAS MORE THAN HAPPY TO ASSIST- keep in mind i also live some 45 miles from the store so BELIEVE me my store and I have common grounds on its needs- as well as exactly what my vmml asks of me

If everyone had a VMTL like you, Tanner, many of these problems wouldn't exist.
Hope corp is watching & learning from your example.

The vmls msin job- for the trouble it took to recruit and pay a wage for our experience in the business- is an investment that is being made to once again raise target from task- oriented retailer- to detailed fast fashion millenial destination---WALMART=LIW INCOME NEED CUSTOMER. TARGET=SMART MILLENIAL ON A BUDGET

THANX REDEYE As i said ive only been in the position for 2 weeks and they are already sending me 2 vmls to train-

"Deliver amazing moments for team members and guests".
Bwa ha ha ha ha ha.
I'm waiting for my amazing moment. Lol

My amazing moment was when she gave me candy today. Other than that, not so much...especially since ETL-HR gives me better sweets.

Tanner, even with the investment in your position remember that you're part of a team & sometimes you might need to help cashiers. Doesn't mean you'll be up there for hours.
Hell, my STL jumps on a lane when we get slammed but the faster everyone gets on, the faster we get off.
Leading by example.

I am a team player clearance master- but with 30 years and a degree in my field- while I do everything I can for our guest and my associates- i wil NOT get into petty stuff like letting attitude like that bring me down- I AM WAY TO FOCUSED on enjoying MY TARGET AND MY TEAM

And in my store- before i started the HR ETL AND EVEN SL was- and they sad it directly to me- " even though we are onboarding and training you here- you will actually be the one training all of us- as we are eager to learn methods of standards and delivering " wow" moments in our store

This may sound corny folks- but retailers out there- no matter who they are out there- are struggling from alike e commerce and deep discounting/ coupons- target is pulling out ALL STOPS to figure out how to get that millenial money spending custoner back in and spending thrir shabby sheik fast fashion dollars- YOU GOTTA SCREAM WOW TO STEAL THEM AWAY FROM OUR COMPETITION

I was onboarded because in my interview my HR told me he DID NOT WANT TO THROW A CASHIER into this position- he was willing to invest in experience- thus I came seaboard

Inother words guys- TIMES ARE CHANGING- FICKLE CUSTOMERS ARE CHANGING WE CANT AFFORD TP PLAY "TASK COMFORTABLE" ANYMORE
