And this, is why the VML position isn't being accepted.
Because the 40 hours for VML is NOT going to be added to the payroll indefinitely. If you were told it is it's because CURRENTLY they are, but once you are in your role and trained those hours go away pumpkin. Meanwhile we are one cashier/sales floor/flow tm short while you work on bedazzling your focus areas and we are running around doing everything else with no extra payroll because you think that you should not be doing other tasks.

All I know is that if EVERY ETL and even the STL hops on the lanes at my store..the VMTL damn sure better be. They are still hiring for the position at my store so I have no idea how it is going to turn out. Heck I even grabbed carts with my STL the other day

Well folks here are 2 examples of why VMLs are vital to put into the stores- do these look brand right to you?

Ok so...I thought this was maybe a sarcastic post at first, but after reading through the rest of the messages you were serious? My fan Central looks better than that just by our LODs fixing it and idk why that is even there with the watches? Is it suppose to drive sales?

I can tell you first hand what will happen too in relation to this position and workcenter(?) Hours will be really nice at first and then after a year half of it is gone and then even more hours are gone because you have to help with other areas. Same exact thing happened in Pfesh. We had Market looking great for a year and were able to actually get cleaning done. A year later they gut the hours and its been a HUGE struggle. They even cut the CTL position entirely

Maybe and actually HOPEFULLY they treat this position different but from past experience I would say that is not going to happen.

Yes i hel with 4x4s and the team meetingbim part ot- my HR also encouraged me to " dress a notch up" meaning woven red shirt- as opposed to red t- shirt
Yeh, TLs on up always stick to Polos or other dress shirts/blouses.
Exception being if you're going ON.

Sounds like typical target telling some unsuspecting people what they want to hear about this position to get them in the door. Working for Target 10 years I'd bet money as soon as fourth quarter ends and the all mighty "payroll" discussions start to happen there is going to be some shocked VMTL's. Pretty sad really but it's how Target does things.

As for helping othrts- as i said my etl came to me and asked if i could do those overnites in a row- i could have said no- 45 min commute for me at nite there and home-so no- but instead I told him it would be a great experience and get to know plano and. Sinage teams better- and agai not ONE. of those folks have given me attitude or snubbed me-I have been welcomed- I believe comming in and getting my hands dirty with the crew strengthens our relationship
I drive the same amount of time, through dark roads through woods and the middle of nowhere. For just under eleven fucking dollars an hour. And some warm pizza to eat. When you came on you knew how long your commute was. If it wasn't worth it for the pay you shouldn't have taken the job. I live on the Seacoast, I've sat in traffic for hours to get to work or gotten up hours before work to beat it. It's nice you worked the overnight, but IT'S YOUR JOB. Not extra effort.

I found it super interesting...last week corporate was pushing all the stores hard for sales. They wanted the stores to do anything possible to drive sales at the end of the quarter (probably why some stores had greeters, etc).

If they were pushing hard for sales, that means they were trying to make a final push for their third quarter report to investors. And that means overall we are going to hear it was a weak third quarter. This does not bode well for us or the vml position.

I mean, I'm fully expecting VML to be cut back by this time next year.

Given that Macy's just downgraded their VM position from salaried to hourly & are closing a large number of stores next year (35-40), Target seemed poised to snap up a lot of talent at a time when they were looking to jazz up the brand.
It'll be a test whether it makes a big enough impact during Q4 &, if so, whether corp maintains the position instead of gutting it like PFresh.
Cardinal rule: Everything happens in retail for a reason.

So the Etl ge at my store is waaay too excited about going overnight to set our mannequin's and some kind of new fancy tables. He said we would look very upscale. Really! I don't think so. 2 feet in from the racetrack and there is no zone, clearance is on the floor, fitting room is puking clothes, and the carpet area in shoes and softlines is gross. I can not wrap my head around dead plastic people dressed in whatever, making a difference. I'm all for change but take care of the underlying issues before rolling out changes.

I did 5 nights in a row- first 3 were working with plano on xmas shop- last 2 were my choice- i re worked accessories and shoe trend areas one night- started re working mens fixturing last night

Found out also 2 more of my former macys co working visuals also made the leap over to target- dont know if i mentioned but my vmml was recruited from bannana republic

I remember when Banana Republic was casual & gear-outfitter oriented. Their catalogs were a hoot to read.
Then they went upscale & I lost interest.
In the 30 yrs you've done VM, how many were at Macy's & where else did you work?

Again- target is looking to capture the stores of the " future" "fast fashion" at great prices- ie, h&m 21 red;zahra- highest profit margins for target are rtw and.home- and from what im reading the new beo is no out to " kill" p fresh but to respond to millenial shopping hBits- making it more of s. Whole foods grocery environmental

I can tell you as FACT everythin going on my runway mannequins in all zones flies out the door at full price- as well as the furniture trend zones we set

Wish pics could be posted without danger of being outed.
A lurker sent me some awesome pics from a friend of a friend of a friend but I don't want to out anyone if they recognize the set-up.

Absolutley- just point is- everything they are doing visually is selling- 2 more stores in my district are slated for runway mannequin installations this month

Home innovation and mannequins drive sales. That's just the end of it. They need to be executed well. I remodeled my home store through the innovation remodel and then two month later I was gone for ETL training. I barely got to enjoy it all!
