So I just asked them today and there's no way to get discounted parking at the shopping center. Damn.Go on ehr or target pay for more info. I have not used it.
Sorry🙁 at least, you did check. So I just asked them today and there's no way to get discounted parking at the shopping center. Damn.
I might as well take the bus. It's $2.75 each trip, which is cheaper. Less convenient though.Sorry🙁 at least, you did check.
I make $9.50 an hour and next year California's minimum wage is going to $10 an hour just in time for my yearly review so I'm looking forward to seeing if they are going to give me an actual raise or just say the minimum wage increase is good enough.
SOP at Target is to raise you to the minimum, plus any extra you get for your pay grade, and then add just that year's raise. You lose any pay raises from previous years.I make $9.50 an hour and next year California's minimum wage is going to $10 an hour just in time for my yearly review so I'm looking forward to seeing if they are going to give me an actual raise or just say the minimum wage increase is good enough.

Yep! I made less than $10 before raises happened this year and the new Deli base pay (at my store) is now $10. I got bumped up to $10 and then had this year's raise added to the $10. I lost 5+ years worth of raises.
I would think you could claim that as a work related expense on your taxes. 32 hours X 52 weeks =$1662. A good chunk of change.I wish it was increased to $10, an extra dollar for every hour I park. You would think that they would at least give us parking decals. On an 8 hour shift, I have to pay $9 on parking.
I did some research and unfortunately it looks like it can't be deducted. Apparently parking fees at the place I work are nondeductable commuting expenses.I would think you could claim that as a work related expense on your taxes. 32 hours X 52 weeks =$1662. A good chunk of change.
I know, it makes no sense. How can the "minimum wage" not apply to everyone???

There's really no reason minimum wage needs to be $15. A lot of minimum wage jobs are for high school kids and college students, and aren't expected to make a living off those jobs.I did some research and unfortunately it looks like it can't be deducted. New York just passed a $15 minimum wage for fast food workers. I hope retail comes next.
Restaraunt workers make a lot of money off tips actually. The nicer the restaurant, the more they make. My buddy is a server and can make anywhere from 100-200 on a weekend shift. And he isn't working at a super fancy restaurant. The restagrant workers were actually making less than minimum wage because of a scam pulled by lawmakers back in the 80s.
So they fixed that first.
There are a number of restaurants that have gone to the European method of folding the cost of labor into the food and telling the guests not to tip.barcode, post: 208404, member: 57"]Restaraunt workers make a lot of money off tips actually. If they make $15/hr then we can essentially stop tipping. However a lot of restaurants would go under.
Either system works really. The current system is a little bit better because you can take your cash tips home tax free (I used to work in Pizza Delivery, no one reported their tips lol)There are a number of restaurants that have gone to the European method of folding the cost of labor into the food and telling the guests not to tip.
Some still do out of habit or because they are really happy with the service but the staff make more in the long run, don't have to resort to begging from people (because face it, that's what tipping comes down to) and don't have to worry abo

Considering the fact that tipping became the standard purely as a way for restaurants to cut their overhead during the Despression, it's long past time for it to die. Servers shouldn't have to rely on the general population to pay their wages.
